Marcela Losantos Velasco holds a PhD in Psychology from Vrije Universiteit Brussel. She is the coordinator of the Institute for Research in Behavioural Sciences and the national coordinator of the VLIR-UOS Interuniversity Cooperation Programme with Flemish universities in Belgium.

Her research on social vulnerability and the rights of children and adolescents earned her the distinction of Summa Cum Laude in 2015, and in 2018 she was awarded the Marie Curie distinction for her research career by the National Academy of Sciences. Furthermore, in 2021, she was named Researcher of the Year by the Bolivian Catholic University “San Pablo”.
