Gemma Pearson is a third year doctoral researcher at Royal Holloway, University of London (RHUL). She is currently researching the impact of relationships and social networks on the lives of street-connected children in northern Tanzania, using qualitative research methods and grounded theory. She is also a tutorial assistant for undergraduate Human Geography modules at RHUL and sits on the committee of the Royal Geographical Society-IBG Developing Areas Research Group as a postgraduate representative. Before commencing her PhD in 2013, she completed an MSc in Practicing Sustainable Development and worked in the charity sector for five years covering public policy, disaster management and refugee youth welfare with UNICEF, Tearfund (South Sudan) and Refugee Support Network, respectively.
