Jelena Perović has a PhD in Communication Science from the Sapienza University of Rome, Italy. Her PhD thesis explored media education in Montenegro. Working as the Communication Officer for UNICEF in Montenegro, she coordinated the Global Kids Online research in this country and several campaigns promoting child digital safety and participation, the inclusion of children with disabilities, preschool education, fostering, etc. Prior to joining UNICEF, she worked for Save the Children. Her research interests are related to children and media, media literacy/media education, communication for development and social change, child participation, etc.
