Joe Khalil is associate professor in residence at Northwestern University in Qatar. He teaches courses in Media and Communication Studies and Television Production. He researches questions of youth cultures, audiences and patterns of media production in the Arab world. He has engaged in professional work and research in more than 10 countries, including the US, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and Tunisia. He has authored a policy monograph, Arab satellite entertainment television and public diplomacy, and is also a co-author of Arab television industries. His scholarly interests revolve specifically around Arab youth, alternative media and global media industries.
