Nevine Tewfik is Head of Research, Studies and Policies at the International Relations Division, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), Egypt. Nevine has a background in development and political science. She joined MCIT in 2001 where she has been managing various key portfolios and is currently the focal point for UNICEF at MCIT and is representing the Ministry at the OECD’s Committee on Digital Economy Policy (CDEP). Nevine is a member of the ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) public responsibility panel and MCIT’s representative at UNESCO. She has developed and contributed to a number of strategic documents including MCIT’s strategies, policies and vision papers. Nevine’s work currently revolves precisely around the development of the Green ICT agenda and child online protection programmes in Egypt, as well as engaging Egypt in international dialogue on the subjects. Nevine played an active role in establishing the multi-stakeholder national Child Online Protection (COP) committee in Egypt, where she acts as coordinator. She represents MCIT at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) COP initiative, at the ITU Working Group on Child Online Protection (WG-CP) and the Child Online Protection Dynamic Coalition.
