Dorothy Gordon is the first director-general of Ghana’s Advanced Information Technology Institute (AITI), the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT. She is a specialist in international development with over 20 years’ experience working throughout Africa, the US, Europe and Asia in executive and consulting positions – principally with the United Nations (UN), but also working with private sector and civil society organisations. The present direction of her work relates to how best ICT can be owned by developing countries. She also supports training and research initiatives in India and Africa. Dorothy, who has degrees from Ghana and the UK, serves on a number of international and national boards and also works with a range of NGOs and community-based organisations to support economic empowerment and good governance. She played a significant role in the drafting of Ghana’s media policy, and has occupied various positions in corporate governance, including as a two-term board member of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation.
